Carlos Jaramillo, dancer, choreographer and teacher of Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance and Latin Jazz lives and works in Hamburg since 1991.
Born in Colombia, he was getting his dance training with Irina Brecher and continued them in New York at the Martha Graham School and the Alvin Ailey School.
In 1981 in Bogotá he founded the first contemporary dance school and his dance company Danza Contemporánea Triknia Kábhelioz , which he has continued until today with a new name called Triknia Dance Company. With his company he has performed in major theaters in Colombia and in many other cities, including San José de Costa Rica, Miami, Paris, Bern Heidelberg, Hamburg and Barcelona.
During the continuous work with his company, he developed his own dance and
choreographic style, which is based on both the ethnic and cultural elements
of Latin America, as well as the creative engagement with contemporary dance
In his choreography, he deals with the Latin American mythology.
In 2001 Carlos Jaramillo founded the CDSH, the Contemporary Dance School Hamburg, where he was formed the contemporary dancers within three years of intensive instruction in various dance styles. The focus is more modern and contemporary dance, which Carlos taught as a director and artistic director until Summer 2006, and by July 2008 as artistic director and presented at regular school plays in the form of new choreographies.
The last professional company project Carlos Jaramillo showed in “Jorge Eliecer Gaitán ” 2013 with the Triknia Dance Company: the piece “ La Esquina Desplazada “, supported from the Culture Ministry from Colombia.
